Need More Information About Our Top 5 Picks?

Look no further. Below you will find my review and a detailed breakdown of the top 5 picks for the best drone under £50 dollars. I will go ahead and go over the pros as well as the cons that pertain to these 5 drones. Before we get started with this part, let us first take a look at what some of the basic uses you could get out of your new 50 or under dollar drone. Please don’t skip this section as it might end up being the most important section for figuring out which of the drone’s features would be most beneficial to you. Let’s get started.

Common Drone Uses

When shopping for a new drone, it is important to decide right of the bat as to what type of a drone you are looking for. There are a variety of drone uses out there, and we will go ahead and talk about a few of these below. Now, keep in mind that drones come in all shapes, sizes. The 4 basic drone classes are; commercial drones, personal drones, professional drones & racing drones. Today, we are only going to be focusing on the personal best drone for under 50 dollars. Within this class of drones, we will cover; indoor use, outdoor recreational use, stunt (fun) use and aerial photography recreational use. The four uses just mentioned are the most common type of drone uses within the $50 dollar price range. Here we go.

Common Drone Uses – Indoor Drone Flying

Drones for the indoors are a plenty within this best drone for under 50 dollar price range. Most indoor drones are going to be pretty small in physical size, and not super fast (unless we start talking about the indoor drone racing league, those are super fast). So, what type of stuff can one do indoors with a drone? Well for one, indoor drones are really good to learn basic drone flying techniques. Another good use out of flying drones indoors is that you don’t have to worry about the weather outside; the cold, rain, wind etc.. By flying indoors, you are also very close to a power source for easy battery re-charging. There are however a couple of things that you should be aware of when shopping for an indoor drone. As you know, most drones typically have 4 sets of propeller blades (4 motors) to get the drone flying. It is very important for indoor drones to have protective guards around their propellers. As you are flying your drone indoors within some close quarters, there is a very good chance that you might hit the tables, chairs, cabinets, walls, ceiling, fans and more. Without the protective propeller guards, your drone wouldn’t be operation for very long if flying indoors.

Common Drone Uses – Outdoor Recreational Drone Flying

When it comes to the outdoors, drones have a bit more of an easier time flying outside when compared to their indoor counterparts. Firstly, your outdoor drones don’t really have to worry about hitting all kinds of objects that are in their close proximity, secondly you can just go all out on the torque and speed right off without having to worry about hitting walls or the ceiling. Most drones out there will be for the outdoors. The outdoor drones typically will not have the propeller guards either (unless the drone is for a child, then you should absolutely have guards on the propellers – whether indoor or outdoor). Best drone under £50. Some of the more important features to consider with outdoor drones are their range and flight time. You don’t want to get into a position where your drone starts getting out of range or the battery on it dying out (you definitely don’t want a crashed drone on your hands). Other features to consider on some of the better outdoor drones are; FPV (First Person View) flying, VR goggle flying, GPS, camera, stunts and more. Throughout this “best drone for under 50 dollars” page, we cover quite a bit of these features in detail. Please continue reading below for more information.

Common Drone Uses – Drones With Stunt Capabilities (Best Drones For Under $50)

Stunt drones, you might have heard of them? If not, just think “old school WW2 fighter plane dog fighting. Just like the pilots of the great war used to maneuver their fighter planes to avoid enemy gunfire, the drones of today are capable of similar feats. Your modern day stunt drone is able to do some pretty cool rolls, spins, flips and more. And the best thing of all, it is usually just at the press of a single button.  Yeah, its that easy. Now, one important thing to remember with stunt drones, is that they typically won’t have all of the fancy bells and whistles of the everyday recreational drone. I am talking about such things as a camera, FPV control, fancy return home features, altitude hold etc.. Stunt drones are just that, play toys. They are fun, they are cool and you can literally immerse yourself by playing around with them for hours at a time (that is, if you have a few extra batteries handy). These drones are quick, inexpensive (usually), and super fun to race around with.

Common Drone Uses – Aerial Photography Recreational Drones

Aerial photography drone use is very similar to our previous section for “outdoor recreational drone flying” use. With that being so, I won’t really go into details explaining most of their features.  Instead, I am going to just focus on one key feature, the drone’s camera. With aerial photography drone uses, having an on-board camera is a prerequisite. Unfortunately, the thing about this “best drone for under 50 dollars” page, is that we really do only focuses on 50 dollar machines (give or take some dollars). With this price range, you absolutely cannot expect the best camera setups on the market for your drone; but you do still have some decent options. For example, the Leaning Tech Visuo & the Rabing Mini drones. Both of these drones have 2MP 720P HD camera systems included for the low price. On top of that, they have FPV and VR capability as well (this is typically unheard of for this price range). So, not only do you get to take some high aerial photography and video, you get to do it through the drone FPV controller. Definitely an awesome feature on both of these drones.

Top 5 Best Drone for Under 50 Dollars

#1. Leaning Tech Visuo

Best Drone For Under 50 - GordVe Visuo

Our #1 best drone for under 50 dollars pick is the Leaning Tech Visuo. This machine really is in a class of its own. It really doesn’t make sense for it’s price to be around $60 with all of the cool features, technical specs and awesome reviews that it has received. But, never the less; here we are. I picked this drone as the #1 pick for our $50 dollar price range list due to a number of reasons. Most importantly, what sets this machine apart from the rest of the $50 machines are the features. This drone has FPV, it has VR capability, it has an HD camera, it has a top flight time of 15 minutes, return home button and more. This machine is a beast. What more can I say? Well, okay; that’s enough I guess. Please take a look below and see for yourself what I am so excited about..

Price: Around $60 (I have seen this drone’s price fluctuate right around the $60 price range). It may not be exactly $60 or under, but it definitely fits the best drone for under 50 price range category (I did see this drone for sale under $60 at one point or another on Amazon).

Pros: Where to start, so many of them. As you might have gathered from my earlier comments, the FPV and VR sit high on my list of Pros for this machine. The Leaning Tech Visuo has them both, FPV and VR. It also has super high flight time for a drone in this price range. Oh yeah, it folds, making it super easy and convenient for transport and travel.

Cons: Not a whole lot of bad to say. A couple of things that I don’t like about it, is the fact that it doesn’t have Altitude Hold and that it is not a both indoor/outdoor drone (you can usually tell this by the fact that the drone doesn’t have propeller guards).

Camera Quality: Has Camera – This drone indeed has a 2MP, 720p HD camera included. You can take both pictures and video with this drone. Definitely not a 4K drone, but for paying around $60 for this machine, this really is a steal. Best of all, you can take your pictures and video via the FPV controller.

Top Range: 80+ Meters – The top range for the Leaning Tech Visuo is 80 Meters. This 80 meters is still better than most drones out there for this price. Through our research of the many different drones that we have looked through (20+) in order to pick these top 5 machines, I noticed that most of the drones under the $60 dollar price range do not exceed a top range of 60 meters. So to get a drone that can fly 80 meters from the controller for around $60 is pretty awesome.

Top Flight Time: 15+ Minutes – This is what really puts this drone in a league of its own when it comes to the other drones mentioned on this “best drone for under 50 dollars” page. The top flight time on this drone is 15+ minutes. Yep, most of the other drones do not exceed the 10 minute max flight time. Again, this drone really does set the records on almost every level in this price range.

Stunts: Yes – This drone does rolls. Even with all of the other bells and whistles included, the manufacturer was still able to add a rolls feature to this drone. So, not only does it do FPV, VR, take Video, fly for long periods and across great ranges, it also can do rolls.

Return Home Button: Yes – This drone has a built in return-home-button that can be used in numerous ways. If you were taking video or pictures with the drone and have finished with the job, just press the RHB (return home button) once and the drone will fly back to you. This feature is also useful in the case of your drone experiencing “getting lost” issues.

FPV Capability: Yes – As mentioned earlier, most definitely has FPV. This drone’s first person view mode allows for you to connect your drone to your phone. The drone’s view will then be displayed on your phone. Once connected to the phone, you can control the drone from your phone. Best drone under £50.

VR Capability: Yes – The VR Addition on this drone allows for you to connect the drone to your phone to initiate the FPV. Once the FPV is connected, you can then place the phone into VR goggles to control and fly the drone. (VR Goggles are not included with the drone, Manufacturer’s note).

Mobile App: Yes – This drone does have an app that can be download to your phone. The mobile app name is “SMAO FPV” (According to the manufacturer). Once you download the app, you could program the drone’s flight coordinates directly into the app’s map. You are effectively designing your drone’s flight path on the mobile app that can then be used by the drone to navigate.

The Look: Great – I really like the look of this drone. It really is built solid and looks great. The modern look and design make this machine stand apart from the rest of the best drone for under 50 dollar lot. It almost kind of reminds me of the DJI Mavic Pro drone.

#2. Rabing Mini

best drone under £50 - Rabing Mini

Price: Around $45 – Just like our #1 pick, this particular drone is jam packed with awesome features, specifications and more. Being around $45 truly makes this drone an awesome buy.

Pros: FPV, FPV, FPV. Another sub $50 drone with FPV as well as VR capability. On top of that, this drone has an awesome range that really helps set itself apart from the rest. Just like our #1 pick, this one is folding drone as well.  Which makes for super convenient & easy transport.

Cons: Not a whole lot of cons on this one as well. Just like our previous pick, this one also doesn’t have the altitude hold and is considered to be an outdoor only drone. Sorry folks, no indoor flying with this machine (unless you are extremely skilled and not afraid of the blades getting damaged).

Camera Quality: Has Camera – The camera on this drone is a 2MP HD camera with with a 720p resolution. If you are looking to do some basic photography and video work, then this camera works for you. Again, doesn’t have a 4K camera; but it is still a damn good deal as it is one of our best drone for under 50 dollar picks. Remember folks, only 5 drones made it one this top drones list.

Top Range: 100 Meters – WOW, this is truly an accomplishment. Not only did Rabing pack in a ton of awesome features into this $50 dollar drone, they also included a top range of 100+ Meters. As mentioned previously, most drones in this price range are typically below the 60 meter range, so this really is something to boast about for Rabing.

Top Flight Time: 10 Minutes – Although not quite as good as the 15 Minute XS809W’s time, a flight time of 10 minutes is definitely still reasonably high. Again, we are talking about $50 drones here. If you are looking for higher flight times, then you might want to check out some of the other drones on our how much does a drone cost page. That page will contain links to some of the more higher priced drones with better flight times..

Stunts: Yes – This drone also does Rolls like the Leaning Tech XS809W. Even with all of the cool features that are included with this drone, the manufacturer added rolls to it. This is a pretty cool thing for them to do in my opinion. On the other hand, if you really think about it; most people out there will not go out and purchase a drone like this that has FPV, VR, camera equipment and the rest of the higher end features in order to perform stunts. Stun drones are in a class of their own, and area geared towards performing stunts only. Best drone under £50.

Return Home Button: Yes – This drone does have a return home button. At the click of a single button, you can recall your drone back to you if it is in some sort of distress, or if you are just ready to call it a day and want to to fly back to your asap.

FPV Capability: Yes – Another awesome drone. In my opinion, getting a drone with FPV for under $50 is a steal; can’t go wrong with that. On top of everything, the drone has 4+ Review Stars on Amazon. If you are ready for some first person view action, then this could be just the drone that you were looking for.

VR Capability: Yes – This drone definitely has VR capability. With your mobile phone, place the smart phone into a VR box or wear some VR goggles for a totally different experience with your drone’s flight. I definitely recommend trying this.

Mobile App: Yes – The Drone comes with it’s own mobile app that you could use to control it via WIFI remotely through your phone.

The Look: Good – If you have seen some of the other more expensive drones like the DJI Phantom and others, you will have noticed that this particular drone has a similar look to them. Rabing has really done a nice job of creating such a nice looking drone like this with all of the included features for under $50.

Technical Specifications: These Technical Specifications Were Retrieved From Amazon’s Website

Camera: 2MP, 720P HD
Maximum Controller Range: About 328ft.
Type of Drone Battery: 3.7V 220mAh battery
Total Charging time: About 30 minutes
Maximum Flight Time: About 7-10 minutes
Type of Battery for Controller: 4 AAA batteries (not included)
Folded Drone Size: 5*5*2.7 cm
Fully Expanded Drone Size: 6.5*6.5*2.7 cm
Drone Weight: 0.6 pounds

Conclusion: There is a reason why this drone is #2 on our list and not further down the list. It really is second best when it comes to the price/value factor. This drone just like #1, has the FPV, VR, HD Cam, Return Home button and more. This is a strong contender on this list. If you like this particular drone and want to learn more about it, please click on the button below to be taken to this drone’s Amazon product page for additional details.

#3. Holy Stone – HS170

Best Drone For Under 50 - Holystone HS170 Predator

Price: Around $40 – This is a neat little drone for the indoors and I am proud to have in as a part in my top five best drone under £50 dollars list.

Pros: Stunts, flips, rolls propeller guards & more. This is the perfect indoor drone. If you are new and don’t really know how to fly a drone, this would be a perfect little machine to learn on. The Holy Stone HS170 drone is an awesome beginner machine that you can zip around with, learn to fly and pull off some cool flips and rolls; all while not having to worry about your propeller blades breaking.

Cons: Does not have a camera & is predominantly an indoor drone. A cool camera would have made this drone even better.

Camera Quality: No Camera – With this being a predominantly indoor drone, a lack of camera isn’t the end of the world, but it would have been nice to have it included.

Top Range: 50 Meters – Since this drone is primarily used indoors, 50 meters of range should be plenty. Most bigger rooms throughout people’s houses and apartments are not going to be bigger than 50 meters.  So based on this, this particular drone’s range should be sufficient.

Top Flight Time: 8 Minutes – A flight time of 8 minutes is pretty good for this price range. In actuality, it is a pretty standard amount of time that drones under $50 are able to stay in the air. One thing to also consider is that most people do lots of landing and taking off throughout their drone’s maximum flight time session (the top flight time is a number that is used to show the longest time a drone can stay flying in one go).

Stunts: Yes – This is a pretty decent stunt drone. It is able to do both rolls and flips. So far, this is the first drone mentioned on our “best drone for under 50” dollars page that can do both. Think 360 flips and sideways rolls, this drone can do both. If you are looking for a fun indoor beginner drone that can do both flips and rolls, then this is for you.

Return Home Button: No – Typically GPS or Mobile App locator is required for the return home functionality to work. As this drone doesn’t have either FPV or Mobile app capability, the return home feature is not included.

FPV Capability: No – Only the top 2 drones on our list on this top 5 best drone for under 50 dollars page have this feature included for the low price.

VR Capability: No – Same as the above FPV feature, only the top two drones (#1 & #2) have this feature included.

Mobile App: No – Mobile app is not included for this particular drone

The Look: Good – This little indoor stunt type of a drone really is a looker. Between the cool blue top and the gray/white propellers and motors, it really does look like something out of a Sci-Fi movie.

Technical Specifications: These Technical Specifications Were Retrieved From Amazon’s Website

Headless Flight System – This system orients the quadcopter’s flight on the controller (instead of always on the drone’s “head, front part”).
Channel Frequency: Low-interference 2.4GHz technology
Type of Gyroscope: 6-Axis gyro stabilization system for effortless recovery after stunts and sudden moves
Maximum Controller Range: 50 Meters
Total Charging time: 45-60 minutes
Maximum Flight Time: About 6-8 minutes

Conclusion: This indoor stunt drone really is a favorite of mine and I am proud to be able to review it here on this top five best drone for under 50 page. It is easy to fly, so it is perfect for beginners. The fact that it has the propeller guards also makes this a perfect beginner drone. If you would like more information about it and additional details, please take a look at the Amazon product page for it below.

#4. Syma X5C – Best Drone Under £50

Best Drone For Under 50 - Syma X5C

Price: Around $30 – The Syma X5C has definitely made the cut here on our top 5 best drone for under 50 dollars. This is an all around decent drone with a camera system.

Pros: Good beginner drone with a camera, rolls, altitude hold and decent flight time. Overall, this is a pretty decent drone and well worth the $30 or so dollars that you would pay for it. The drone also includes propeller guards for propeller protection. It can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Cons: The range on this drone isn’t the best, also it doesn’t do any flips (only does rolls). But really thinking about this; for $30 bucks, this drone is equipped with many standard features and is definitely a top 5 contender.

Camera Quality: Has Camera – Included with this drone is a decent 2.0MP 720p HD camera that can definitely take some pretty good pics and video. If you are looking to do a bit of aerial photography, then this drone is a pretty good candidate.

Top Range: 30 Meters – As mentioned on the cons part for this drone; the range is not the greatest. But even with this being the case, all of the features combined make this drone a good purchase.

Top Flight Time: 7 Minutes – The flight time on this drone is actually pretty decent. Coming in at 7 minutes, it is right about the norm or better for drones under $50 dollars.

Stunts: Yes – The Syma X5C does 360 Flips. It’s not a full on stunt drone, but it definitely has a little kick to it with the 360 degree flips.

Return Home Button: No – When it comes down to it, only two drones on this best drone for under 50 dollar page have the return home button feature. This feature is typically found on the more expensive drones ($200+). With that said, the fact that we have two options with this feature available on this page is truly remarkable.

FPV Capability: No – As this is very much a beginner drone, the first person view capability is not available. The two top picks for this best drone for under 50 dollars have the FPV capability if you are interested (they are what we consider to be intermediate difficulty drones).

VR Capability: No – Just as the FPV option is not available, the VR is not either as it is closely tied to the first person view option. You really can’t have one without the other.

Mobile App: No – This drone unfortunately does not have mobile app capabilities. It is a basic beginner drone that can fly outdoors, take photos, do some basic flips etc.

The Look: Decent – This is a somewhat sporty looking white drone with decal art & designs. It’s a clean looking drone that is great for beginner pilots.

Technical Specifications: These Technical Specifications Were Retrieved From Amazon’s Website

Camera: 2MP, 720P HD
Type of Gyroscope: 6-Axis
Maximum Controller Range: About 30 Meters.
Total Charging time: About 100 minutes
Maximum Flight Time: About 7 minutes
Stunts: Perform 360 degree flips with push of a button
Wind Resistant: Yes
Indoor/Outdoor Use: Can be used for both

Conclusion: This drone is definitely also a good starter drone. It is great for both the indoors and the outdoors.  It comes with some basic standard drone features like a drone camera, propeller blade guards and more. If you would like to get a bit more information about this drone or are interested in purchasing one, please take a look at the Amazon product page for this drone below.

#5. Tozo Q2020

Best Drones For Under $50 - TOZO Q2020

Price: Around $30 – This is a great beginner for a great price. If you are looking for great drone with a great price, look no further. This is our final drone pick for this top 5 best drone for under 50 dollars page.

Pros: This beginner drone has quite a bit going for it. It has the altitude hold feature, headless mode, stunts & great flight time. It also sports some great propeller blade guards for safer drone operation. If you are looking for a great beginner indoor and outdoor drone, this one is definitely a good choice.

Cons: This particular drone has no camera, the range is not the greatest and is only able to do 360 degree flips (no rolls). Even with these drawbacks however, I believe that this is still a decent beginner drone. It made our top five list of best drone for under 50 dollars for a reason.

Camera Quality: No Camera – This particular drone has no camera, so you won’t be doing any high definition picture taking and video recording.

Top Range: 45 Meters – This particular drone’s range is perfect for a beginner.  You want to be able to comfortably learn how to fly your drone, without having to worry about it flying away because you were trying to fly it too high or too far from you. As they say, baby steps. Once you master drone flight with a beginner drone, then you could upgrade to a better one. Better get used to flying a cheap drone, than to crash an expensive one due to a rookie mistake.

Top Flight Time: 10 Minutes – This is a pretty solid flight time for a cheaper drone. Most drones on under $50 will have flight times around 6-8 minutes. Even though we have some higher flight times on this best drone for under 50 dollars page, a 10 minute flight time is decent.

Stunts: Yes – This drone does have some stunt capability. It is able to perform some 360 degree flips. Even though you don’t get both rolls and flips, it’s still a good way to train while a novice drone pilot.

Return Home Button: No – As mentioned previously, only the #1 and #2 drones on this best drone for under 50 dollars page have the return home button feature.

FPV Capability: No – Same thing applies to the FPV, only the top two best drones have this feature.

VR Capability: No – VR capability is none existent? I am afraid so; only the Leaning Tech Visuo Drone & the Rabing Mini drone have it.

Mobile App: No – As this is a cheepie beginner drone; no mobile app is available either.

The Look: Solid – This machine truly has a solid build and look to it. The wide propeller blades make for a good modern looking design (Think Avatar), where the front cockpit and rest of the body of the drone are colored with a nice black and white paint job. When it comes to propeller guards, I prefer this type of a guard design the best.

Technical Specifications: These Technical Specifications Were Retrieved From Amazon’s Website

Altitude Hold: You can release the throttle stick and the drone will keep the current height. Supper easy for indoor/outdoor flight.
Type of Gyroscope: 6-Axis
Drone Controller: 2.4G Remote controller
Controller Channel: Low-interference 2.4GHz technology
Maximum Controller Range: About 45 Meters.
Type of Drone Battery: 3.7V 350mAh Li-Ion battery
Total Charging time: About 60 minutes
Maximum Flight Time: About 10 minutes
Speed Modes: 3 Speeds
Stunts: Perform 360 degree flips with push of a button
Indoor/Outdoor Use: Can be used for both

Conclusion: As you can see, this drone is not jam packed with all types of features, but it is built solid and is ready for indoor as well as outdoor flight. If you are a beginner drone pilot and need some drone flying lessons, then this is a good platform to learn on. Don’t worry about crashing, the propeller guards should be there to stop most of the damage. Please take a look at the Amazon link below for more details, explanations and technical specifications for this drone.
